[KHTS] – Santa Clarita ranked No. 79 on the list of America’s 150 “Best & Worst Cities for Singles,” according to WalletHub.com.
The website, which also named Santa Clarita to its “Top Cities in America for Families,” looked at the 150 most populated cities in America and created a metric to rank them.
The personal finance social network looked at “the percentage of singles, restaurant meal costs and the number of attractions per capita in each city,” according to an article.
WalletHub ranked Santa Clarita No. 1 for Lowest Restaurant Meal Cost (San Francisco ranked last, or most expensive).
However, it also ranked Santa Clarita’s salons as the second most expensive, tied with Huntington Beach and Garden Grove.
While WalletHub appreciated Santa Clarita’s safety and family friendliness on a previous list, it ranked Santa Clarita No. 146 out of 150 cities for lowest number of “Night Life Options per Capita.”
“To help singles find the right partner while saving money along the way, WalletHub ranked the 150 most populated U.S. cities across 25 key metrics,” the story states.
Last year, 105 million adults over the age of 18 were single, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. The “dating” industry contributes about $82 billion to the nation’s economy, according to the article.
The site also offers singles advice for what to look for in a new city.
According to WalletHub.com:
What should singles be looking for when choosing a city?
A good city for singles should:
* have vibrant community spaces and safe urban neighborhoods where people hang out and can meet;
* have lots of sports activities that active singles can join where it’s easy to meet someone;
* have a lot of places with good happy hours and a convivial feeling;
* have interesting job opportunities so ambitious, smart singles come for those jobs;
* have “happening” neighborhoods full of young people;
* have reasonably affordable housing so singles don’t have to live in suburban neighborhoods where it might be harder to meet other singles (However see possibilities below of commuting!). Also there is one good side of expensive rentals and prices: people live outside their apartments for their social life (restaurants, clubs, bars) and that means it is more likely they will meet other people in public spaces);
* have a good public transportation system — another good place to meet people;
* have an active evening scene where people socialize.

Santa Clarita should have a zone for Millennials that serves as a night life. Possibly, by Magic Mountain. I thought at one time, there was talk about a city walk? You can’t expect young folks to drop 12 bucks a martini at the more mature Town Center.
I will concur
