[Republic Records] – Former Santa Clarita resident and renowned songwriter, Julia Michaels, recently signed a solo deal with Republic Records.
Michaels has been working vigorously behind the scenes for years, penning many multiplatinum hits. The renowned songwriter is now stepping into the limelight herself by signing a solo deal with Republic Records.
Julia is one of the industry’s top songwriters, producing chart-topping hits alongside her songwriting partner Justin Tranter, including Justin Bieber’s “Sorry,” Selena Gomez’s “Good For You,” Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself,” and more. To date the songs that Julia has co-written exceed over eight billion streams, with the consumption equivalent of over 50 million songs sold worldwide.
Julia is in the process of recording her debut EP that is due to be released early 2017.
According to her bio on Advanced Alternative Media, “Julia Michaels, LA-based singer-songwriter, is taking the industry by storm. The 21-year-old had her breakout year as a songwriter in 2013 when she co-wrote Selena Gomez’s Platinum single “Slow Down”, 5th Harmony’s “Miss Movin’ On”, and Demi Lovato’s “Fire Starter”, alongside notable songwriter Lindy Robbins.
Prior to her success as a songwriter, Michaels recorded her debut single, “Born to Party”, at the young age of 16. The single aired on MTV’s reality series The Hills and on ABC Family’s The Lying Game. Later that year, she released a self-titled EP through SA Trackworks.
In 2013, she also co-wrote the theme song for Disney’s “Austin & Ally” with Mike McGarity and Joleen Belle. The following year, Michaels was the vocalist and co-writer on Borgeous’s “Invincible” and “Wildfire” as well as Cash Cash’s “Surrender”.
In 2015, Michaels biggest year yet, she appeared as a feature on Jason Derulo’s “Trade Hearts” where she lent her talents as a vocalist and co-writer. Michaels also collaborated with Zedd on his new album, True Colors, where she co-wrote three tracks, including the single “Papercut (ft. Troye Sivan)”. Her vocals also appear uncredited on her other two Zedd tracks, “Daisy” and “Straight Into the Fire”. Michaels also co-wrote “War Paint” which appeared on Kelly Clarkson’s seventh studio album, Piece by Piece.
Other releases for 2015 include the proven successful songs “Good For You (ft. A$AP Rocky)” by Selena Gomez, “Poison” by Rita Ora, and Hailee Steinfeld’s debut single “Love Myself”.
