From the Facebook page of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station: For the last several months our traffic deputies have been out in force, proactively cracking down on moving violations within the city. They have been targeting key locations in an effort to reduce traffic accidents.
Sergeant Shoemaker of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said that he has seen a slight reduction in the amount of speeding citations issued but said there are still several areas in the city where speeding is still an issue. To make sure drivers are getting the message that reckless driving will not be tolerated on Santa Clarita streets, deputies will be working several operations in the coming weeks to cite speeders.
Traffic accidents have decreased since this time last year and Captain Lewis believes this is attributed to his deputies being proactive and enforcing moving violations in several different areas in the valley.
We continue to work closely with the city of Santa Clarita to prevent distracted driving through our “Heads Up” campaign. This safety campaign urges drivers , and pedestrians, to pay attention and put down distractions.
