Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a man and woman from Newhall on felony burglary charges, according to a post on the station’s Facebook page.
Here’s the story:
It’s a chilly night out there! You know, it’s good to know that neighbors are looking out for neighbors around here.
On Saturday afternoon, a Valencia man called the station and said he observed someone breaking into his neighbor’s pickup truck. He walked outside toward his neighbor’s driveway, and as soon as the suspect saw him, the suspect took off in a silver Dodge Dart that was waiting out front.
The neighbor called us and provided us with a detailed suspect and vehicle description.
As one of our deputies responded to the location to take the report, another deputy spotted a car matching the suspects’ and conducted a traffic stop near Valencia Boulevard and Bouquet Canyon Road. The vehicle’s occupants were identified to be the suspects that deputies were looking for.
A Newhall man and woman in their mid-20s were arrested for felony burglary.
We wouldn’t have been successful in apprehending this couple if it weren’t for the neighbor who not only saw something but did something about it. We don’t want you to jeopardize your safety by approaching suspects that are in the act of committing a crime — just call 911 and be prepared to give us a detailed description of the suspects and/or car, and we’ll be on our way.
