Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested “several” people on charges including possession of narcotics and burglary tools, probation violation, and a bicycle DUI on Friday and Saturday nights.
Here’s the story from the station’s official social media:
“Hope everyone had a good weekend – we were busy. The rainy weather on Friday and Saturday didn’t seem to slow activity down.
“Several ‘Obs arrests’ were made – these type of arrests are ones that occur as a result of deputies’ observations while patrolling around the Santa Clarita Valley. In between the calls for service that deputies are dispatched to, they proactively look around for anything suspicious.
“Quite a few Obs arrests were made for narcotics. Deputies found individuals engaged in illegal activity sitting in vehicles on residential streets, business parking lots, a park, and in one case, individuals were arrested for being under the influence riding bicycles.
“The suspects arrested near a park for narcotics were also found to be in possession of burglary tools.
“And, to top it off, one of the individuals was on active probation for burglary.
“We will not bypass anyone that we drive by, and it looks like they’re up to no good. We will stop, check things out, and hold them responsible for the choices that they’re making. Life is full of choices – and we choose to do the best job we can in keeping this Valley safe for our families, and yours.”

I don’t have an issue with the procedures, they sound solid and effective, but the deputy who wrote this sounds a like they have a stick up their back. Sounds like a female hall monitor. The only thing they didn’t say was they were calling your mommy on you and this was “going on your permanent record”. LOL Just let this deputy lecture them for an hour or two and I’m sure they will want to poke their eyes out! I’m sorry for whoever is the significant other to this person. What a barrel of fun they must be.
All good stuff keep up the great work, except for the DUI on a bicycle. This is one I still cant believe can actually happen. DUI(Driver under the influence)How your drivers license can be suspended or taken away due to you were riding a bicycle does not make sense .Your drivers license allows you to operate a motor vehicle, a bicycle does not have a motor nor do you need a license to operate/ride it. Drunk in public I would more agree with. you guys are really stretching it here.
