Last Saturday on National Austism Awareness Day, organizers of the 13th annual Summer Meltdown Autism Awareness Art & Music Festival unveiled a new headliner and a revamped lineup for the event at Santa Clarita’s Central Park on Saturday, April 30.

Unified Highway has signed on to headline, and the bill also features Z-Trip, Katchafire, Through the Roots, Chali 2na (from Jurassic Five), Zion*1, Wakrat, Krooked Treez, DJ Soulman, True Press, Magic Bronson, The B Foundation, Bad Neighborz, Thicker Than Thieves, J Ras, Native Elements, Irie Fuse, Arise Roots, Stranger, R-Mean, Ital Vibes, Janene Philips, Black Salt Tone, Brewfish, Synrgy, Roots Convention, Elmer Abappo, Between California and Summer, Johnny Love and Antronik.

summermeltdown040716The festival’s lineup of live painters and visual artists presents the works of Al Scholl, Kirk O’Hara, Jimmy Ovadia, David Marple, Michael Vee, Amber Crouch, the Randolph Sisters, Gilbert Bernal, Selena Zontos, Ryan Combs, Amber Jahn, Tara Nichole, Krystal Dyer, Chris Morphis, Amber Brady, Enrique Rodriguez, The Random Artist, and Cameron Schuyler.

Santa Clarita country rock-blues singer-songwriter-guitarist, bandleader and SCVTV “House Blend” star Sean Wiggins plays her first gig at Wine 661 in Valencia with new guitarist Cary Park on Saturday night. You might have heard his fleet-fingered fretwork on a couple of No. 1 hits by country singer Deanna Carter.

Sean and Cary will feature tunes from Sean’s most recent album, “Clothing Optional Fridays,” and more chestnuts from her half-dozen-deep album catalog. Showtime’s 8:30 to 11:30. Call Wine 661 at 661-288-2980 for more info about the venue.

Longtime Spencer Davis Group B-3 player and Santa Clarita local Jim Blazer has been gigging lately with the Alan Wright Band. Their next local show is at JJ’s Bar & Grill on Tournament Road on Sunday, partying on the patio from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The lineup features Alan Wright (guitar, vocals), Dave Grover (bass), Art Mendoza (drums) and Blazer on the big ol’ Hammond. Find out more about the band here and JJ’s here.

On a local TV programming note, the Santa Clarita Valley’s community TV station SCVTV will present an encore broadcast featuring the aforementioned Sean Wiggins on “House Blend” hosted by yours truly on Saturday night at 10.
