Saugus Train Station

shawnrobinson1Veteran stuntman Shawn Robinson, 41, of Santa Clarita, was found dead last week in his hotel room in New Orleans.

Robinson’s body was found July 28 after he didn’t show up for work on the set of the Peter Berg film, “Deepwater Horizon,” according to Deadline Hollywood.

Robinson’s cause of death is pending with the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office until a toxicology report is completed.

Lionsgate released a statement Friday: “On behalf of the producers, cast and crew of ‘Deepwater Horizon’ and the entire Lionsgate family, we want to send our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Shawn Robinson. Shawn was a gifted stunt performer and a beloved and trusted member of our crew. We grieve with his family over this tremendous loss.”

Robinson has been in more than 70 films during his career. He performed as a stuntman in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” three of the “Transformers” films and “Fast & Furious.”

shawnrobinson2Robinson is the son of legendary stuntman Dar Robinson, who doubled for Steve McQueen, David Soul and Henry Silva. The films Cyclone (1987) and Lethal Weapon (1987) were dedicated in his memory. Dar Robinson was killed in a motorcycle crash in 1985.

Troy Robinson, Shawn’s brother, doubles for Vin Diesel.
