1937 - Boeing 247 crashes at Santa Clara Divide; 5 dead, 8 injured [story]
plane crash

A community can’t thrive without the aid of its police and firefighters. Ice Station Valencia, located at 27745 N. Smyth Drive in Valencia wants to be sure that these public service officers know just how much they’re valued.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, Ice Station Valencia will celebrate Law Enforcement and Firefighter Appreciation Day. From 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. during normal afternoon public skating hours, all police officers, firefighters and family members with proper ID will receive complimentary skating admission, hot chocolate and cookies. The POND rink will also be open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., offering snow play fun for the whole family.

Aside from the chance for Ice Station Valencia to say “thanks,” the Santa Clarita community is encouraged to attend this event to show their appreciation and meet their local heroes. Normal skating prices will still be in effect for the public.

During the week leading up to the event, Ice Station Valencia will have a table set up in the lobby to create “thank you” cards to be handed out to all public services officers upon arrival to the event. Ice Station visitors are encouraged to stop by the table and take a few minutes to write a brief message or draw a picture to express their thanks.

The health and safety of all Santa Clarita residents is crucial to the happiness, prosperity and well-being of families and communities. Ice Station Valencia is proud of the dedicated Police Officers and Firefighters who put their lives at risk every day in order to keep the community safe. These public service officers stand as leaders in educating the community about public safety. The extraordinary sacrifices made by officers and their families on a daily basis in order to protect our schools, workplaces and homes are appreciated. Ice Station Valencia would like to take this opportunity to show support for all public service officers and honor their immense efforts.
