Business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals who would like to start a business and learn how to comply with California’s often complex tax laws are invited to attend a free small business tax seminar in Santa Clarita on Friday, Sept. 19.
California State Board of Equalization Member George Runner is sponsoring this event with BOE Chairman Jerome E. Horton, Senator Steve Knight, Assemblymember Scott Wilk, Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Small Business Development Center—College of the Canyons.
“Small businesses are critical to the economic health of our state,” said Runner. “Our goal is to help business owners be successful by ensuring they understand California’s complicated tax laws.”
Those looking for assistance with state and federal tax laws, as well as those who want to expand their business knowledge, will benefit from presentations given by representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, Small Business Development Center, Small Business Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service. Seminar topics include avoiding sales and use tax problems, forms of ownership, better business through better records, loan programs and services, employee or independent contractor, and marketing your business.
