Fall has arrived with all of the great city events you have come to know and enjoy.

Your city works hard to plan and implement workshops and programs that are family-friendly, informative and great contributors to our amazingly high quality of life.

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, we will commemorate our 10th annual Evening of Remembrance at the Youth Grove in Central Park. For those who wish to participate in the Walk of Remembrance prior to the event, meet at the Central Park flagpole at 6:45 p.m.

The Youth Grove – a project completed by the city, the Blue Ribbon Task Force and community members – serves as a memorial and an education tool to promote safe driving among teens.

The Evening of Remembrance, which begins at 7:15 p.m., seeks to encourage teens to drive safely. The annual event is held to remember local youth who lost their lives in traffic-related incidents. Visit santa-clarita.com/blueribbon for more information.

If you have a pet, you will want to attend the city’s Pet Preparedness Workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library, 24500 Main Street. The free workshop is open to everyone and will provide pet owners with everything they need to know to keep their furry friends safe in the event of a major emergency. On Saturday, Sept. 19, the city will once again host the annual River Rally, beginning at 8 a.m.

River Rally is a community cleanup that attracts thousands of volunteers. Participants help to clean a portion of the Santa Clara River and get to participate in an Environmental Expo.

This year, volunteers will be cleaning up the river area behind the shopping center at 18386 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country. The city provides the gloves, trash bags and commemorative gifts. For information, visit GreenSantaClarita.com.
