The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has released information about the housing of sexually violent predator Christopher Hubbart in housing in Pearblossom, in the Antelope Valley.
Despite the opposition of the community, Los Angeles County law enforcement, district attorney and government officials, the court ordered him placed in the Pearblossom housing effective March 21.
The LASD issued the following statement:
“On March 24, 2023, the Santa Clara County Superior Court deemed Christopher Hubbart suitable for conditional release. Hubbart, classified as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP), has a lengthy history of committing violent sex offenses against women and has been prosecuted in both Los Angeles and Santa Clara counties. Following a recent court order, Hubbart was placed at his court-ordered designated housing facility in Pearblossom on March 21, 2025.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department opposed this placement during the hearing, highlighting Hubbart’s criminal history, the seclusion of the rural area, limited cellphone and radio reception and the absence of sufficient nighttime lighting and surveillance cameras.
However, the Palmdale Station is fully committed to ensuring the safety of residents in the surrounding rural communities of Juniper Hills, Pearblossom and Littlerock.
In response, Palmdale Station will increase its law enforcement presence in the area and collaborate with Liberty Healthcare, which will provide 24/7 onsite security. Additionally, Palmdale Station will continue to engage with the community through local town councils to enhance information sharing and address any safety concerns.”
Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor and Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger issued the following statement:
“It is absolutely unacceptable that a dangerous predator like Christopher Hubbart has been placed in the Antelope Valley against the objections of law enforcement and the community. His violent history speaks for itself, and placing him in a remote area with limited law enforcement resources, poor cell service, and insufficient security measures puts residents at unnecessary risk.
I stand with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and local residents in opposing this decision. I will continue fighting for stronger policies that prioritize public safety over flawed bureaucratic decisions that disregard the well-being of our communities.
I urge all concerned residents to remain vigilant and report any issues to law enforcement. Public safety must always come first.”
Hubbart was known as the “Pillowcase Rapist” for his brutal sexual assaults on women in the 1980s and ‘90s.
