Information below from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s social media account:
On Monday night, deputies detained a male juvenile from La Mesa Junior High on charges of criminal threats, after he allegedly made statements threatening violence against the school.
We take all threats seriously and will arrest those who threaten our schools and/or community. It doesn’t matter if students claim these statements were made in jest. It’s a joint team effort between school resource officers, our J-Team, COBRA team, patrol deputies and school administration to keep ’your kids and our kids’ safe.
An extra deputy presence is still planned as scheduled on the La Mesa Jr High school campus Tuesday. We want students to feel safe and reassure parents of our vigilance in maintaining campus safety.
Parents and students are encouraged to call the school’s “Text-a-Tip” hotline at (661) 524-5166 regarding any information they have on the incident.
