Lady Mustang Basketball Signs Bailey

July 9, 2016

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team has signed Brooke Bailey, a native of Spokane, Washington.

“I chose The Master’s College because of the scripture-based education, small community, and student life,” said Bailey. “To be a part of a college where the main focus is to glorify God throughout the entire student body is hard to find these days. That is what truly makes The Master’s College so special.”

The 5-9 future Lady Mustang enters her time at TMC with an impressive resume of athletic honors earned at University High School, a member of the Greater Spokane League.

Bailey led the Titans to two consecutive sixth-place finishes in the Washington State 4A Tournament, earned second-team all-conference honors, and was a top five scorer in her league.

Looking ahead to her time as a Lady Mustang, Bailey already has her sights fixed on achieving a number of goals.

“One of my biggest goals in college is to be conference champions all four years while I am there and go to the national tournament,” said Bailey.

When not competing Bailey plans on majoring in Biological Science for a career as a pediatric nurse.

Commenting on Bailey’s signing, TMC head coach Dan Waldeck said, “Brooke epitomizes what we look for in a women’s basketball player. She is a knock-down shooter and an extremely physical and relentless competitor with ability to score at the rim or off the dribble. Her fire for the Lord, matched with her high-talent level, makes her a perfect fit for us.”

Waldeck plans to play Bailey on the wing.

In 2015-16, The Master’s College women’s basketball team posted an overall record of 25-6 and went 14-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. The Lady Mustangs look to build on last year’s strong results with a slew of veterans and an impressive class of new recruits.
Lady Mustang Basketball Signs Drivstuen

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team has signed Hannah Drivstuen, a native of Monroe, Washington.

“I chose The Master’s College to play basketball and meet new people,” said Drivstuen.

The 5-8 future Lady Mustang enters with an impressive resume consisting of both academic and athletic honors earned at Monroe High School, a member of the Wesco 4A league.

Based on her performance in the classroom, Drivstuen was the school’s English Department Scholar in 2014 and was the Principal’s Choice Department Scholar in 2015.

Athletically, Drivstuen was a four-year letterman in basketball, earned the basketball team’s Inspirational Award, and served as a team captain in the 2015-16 season.

Looking ahead to her time as a Lady Mustang, Drivstuen already has her sights on achieving a number of goals.

“I want to push myself to be the best I can be as a person and as an athlete.”

Commenting on Drivstuen’s signing, TMC head coach Dan Waldeck said, “I’m thrilled to have a person like Hannah joining our program. Her zest for the Lord, relationships, and basketball will make it an easy transition into our culture here. She is an elite defender with the availability to stretch the floor with a deft three-point shot, which will help her impact our team immediately.”

Waldeck plans to play Drivstuen on the wing.

TMC Women’s Basketball Signs Ostrom

July 6, 2016

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team continues to bolster its roster by signing Hannah Ostrom, a native of Lexington, Nebraska.

“The reason I chose to attend The Master’s College is because I know it’s not only going to challenge me as a student-athlete, but more importantly, it’s going to help me grow spiritually,” said Ostrom.

The 5-10 future Lady Mustang enters her time at TMC with an impressive resume crafted at Lexington High School where she earned a myriad of both athletic and academic honors.

Based on her performance in the classroom, Ostrom earned the Nebraska Academic All-State award from 2012-14.

Ostrom’s athletic achievements include being named the KNOP-TV News 2 Player of the Year, earning a spot on the KNOP All-Area First Team, receiving Lincoln Journal 1st Team Class B honors, and being pegged as an Omaha World Herald second-team Class B athlete. Notably, Ostrom also was a Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference (GNAC) first-team selection, a GNAC All-Academic Athlete, a Nebraska Associated Press All-State Girls Basketball Class B second-team choice, and a member on the Kearney Hub Territory first team.

Already looking ahead to her time as a Lady Mustang, Ostrom has her sights set on achieving a number of goals.

“I want to be able to contribute to the team and win a national championship,” said Ostrom.

Lady Mustang head coach Dan Waldeck affirms Ostrom and her aspirations by saying; “Hannah has shown the ability to score from all over the court, which makes her a threat as soon as she steps on the court. She is a great all-around athlete who excels with her passionate heart for Christ and I’m confident that her infectious spirit will positively influence our Christ-centered culture.”

Waldeck plans to play Ostrom on the wing.
Women’s Basketball Signs Forrar

July 5, 2016

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team deepens its roster with the signing of Hannah Forrar, a native of Portland, Oregon.

“I chose The Master’s College because in the two days I was there to visit I could tell it would be a place where I could learn and grow in my faith,” said Forrar. “I also knew it would be a place where everyone would be like-minded. I felt very welcomed and I knew I would get along with the team and coaches. I am most looking forward to learning and hopefully going on some mission trips. Of course, I can’t wait for the basketball season to begin!”

Forrar enters her time as a Lady Mustang after piecing together an impressive background at Damascus Christian School, a member of the 1A Valley 10 League. Highlights of Forrar’s career include multiple 1A girls’ basketball state championship titles, first- and second-team all-league honors, first- and second-team all-state kudos, and league and state MVP honors.

Looking ahead to her time at TMC, the 5-9 future Lady Mustang has her eyes fixed on achieving a number of goals.

“My goals as a future student-athlete are to improve and find my role in the team,” said Forrar. “I think for the most part, though, I want to show Christ through the way I play along with the team. He’s the reason I am able to play college basketball so hopefully I can use it as a mission field.”

When not competing, Forrar plans on majoring in Biological Science.

Commenting on Forrar’s signing, TMC head coach Dan Waldeck said, “Hannah had an outstanding high school career, and has the total package of scorer, playmaker, toughness, and a team-centered mindset. In getting to know Hannah, it’s been a joy to see how her walk with Christ intersects every area of life and how that is going impact our culture for years to come.”

Waldeck plans to play Forrar on the wing.
