WOMEN
On a gorgeous morning at Santa Clarita’s Central Park, the fourth-ranked Lady Mustangs of The Master’s University competed at The Mustang Challenge Women’s 5k, TMU’s fifth-annual home cross country race.
TMU finished fourth out of a field 13 teams by earning a collective time of 1:34:01.3. Additionally, TMU was the highest placing NAIA institution in Saturday’s race.
Out of a field of 142 total runners, TMU’s Morgan Pedrick paced TMU by placing fourth overall with a final time of 17 minutes and 58.1 seconds. Pedrick’s time surpassed her previous personal best (18:43.05) on the Santa Clarita 5k course, which was set in 2015.
Teammate Abigail Frankain was close behind by finishing in ninth place at 18:08.8, Rachael Ingoldsby finished 35th overall at 19:08.0, while Rylee Bishop placed 39th at 19:14.6.
Emma Bahr (72) clocked a final time of 20:06.4, while Arianna Sciarra (78) completed the 5k in 20:24.8. Finally, Janae Hickey (106) earned a final time of 21:33.7.
Looking ahead, the Lady Mustangs will begin training for their next race as TMU will compete at the Titan Invitational in Fullerton at the Titan Track Complex on October 21.
MEN
On a beautiful morning at Santa Clarita’s Central Park, the fourth-ranked Mustangs of The Master’s University toed the line at The Mustang Challenge Men’s 8k, TMU’s fifth-annual home cross country race.
TMU finished fifth out of a field of nine teams with a collective time of 2:11:55.0.
Out of a field of 121 total runners, TMU’s Andrew Orona paced TMU by placing 13th overall with a final time of 25 minutes and 49.4 seconds.
Alec Franco finished the 8k in 17th place at 25:55.9, while teammate Skyler Mikesell finished 35th overall at 26:26.2.
Elsewhere, Stephen Pacheco (46) clocked a final time of 26:49.3, Tim Gutierrez (51) finished at 26:54.0, and Joshua Nunez (58) ended the 8k at 27:18.2.
Finally, Andrew Dolan (76) earned a final time of 28:36.5, while Gareth Matson (82) ran the 8k in 28:56.1.
Notably, unattached runner Garrett Reynolds set a new course record at 24:47.3. The Mustang Challenge 8k’s previous record of 25:50.11 was set by UCLA’s Sergey Sushchickh in 2013.
Now, the Mustangs will begin training for their next race as TMU will compete at the Titan Invitational in Fullerton at the Titan Track Complex October 21.
