Executive Director Rachelle Dardeau is leaving the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center after nearly four and a half years of serving the local growing senior community, officials said Wednesday.
“Rachelle has been instrumental in the success of the Senior Center, and has been an incredible asset to the local senior community. We sincerely appreciate her contributions and wish Rachelle the best of luck in her next adventure” said Peggy Rasmussen, President of the Board of Directors for the Santa Clarita Valley Committee on Aging.
Rasmussen continued, “Rachelle helped the Center grow, and supported the much-needed changes for many of our existing programs. We now provide services to over 10,000 local seniors each year, including hot meals, health and wellness services, recreational and educational opportunities and an inviting social atmosphere.”
Senior Center leaders applauded Dardeau for her efforts in giving seniors a voice, as well as her dedication to the local non-profit community.
The change comes as the board plans to expand the role of the Senior Center in the Santa Clarita Valley, including the kick-off of a capital campaign to develop a brand new 30,400-square-foot facility near Golden Valley Road. By adding another facility, the board hopes to expand the number and types of services available to local seniors, Rasmussen said.
The Board intends to conduct a search for a suitable replacement for Dardeau’s position. An interim Executive Director has not yet been named.
