The stipulation sharply narrowed the field.
For anyone to be eligible for NAIA Scholar-Athlete status, they must be a junior or senior.
Master’s women’s basketball was one of the youngest teams in the NAIA this past season, so they really only had two candidates. Both made it.
Juniors Jamilee Iddings and Kimmie Wong were on the list of 143 Division 1 honorees released by the NAIA recently.
Winners must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
“I think it speaks to how they’ve set a standard for our team,” said coach Dan Waldeck. “I bet our team GPA is going to be 3.5 this year, which is excellent. They do an amazing job in the classroom and are very disciplined with their studies. “Definitely an honor they deserve. Doesn’t surprise me.”
On the court, Iddings averaged 5.5 points a game with 2.7 rebounds. Wong played in six games. Both players were also GSAC Scholar-Athletes.
