Officials with the Los Angeles Department of Coroner released the identity of a woman who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night.
Brittany Schlumpberger, 29, of Santa Clarita, was killed when the car she was driving crashed earlier this week.
On Wednesday at 11:27 p.m., deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Unit responded to a fatal single-vehicle traffic collision on Sand Canyon Road, south of Alamo Canyon Road.
The 29-year-old, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death was not released by Coroner’s officials pending an investigation.
The oak tree that Schlumpberger hit is the exact same tree that Colt Doherty allegedly crashed into when Dakota Demott was killed in Jan. 10, 2012, according to Sgt. Rich Cohen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Doherty, 20, of Canyon Country, is being accused of street racing with Thomas Vensko, 20, of Canyon Country, in that incident, and awaiting trial
Schlumpberger’s crash is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Station Traffic Office.
Anyone witnessing the incident is asked to contact Detective Travis Kelly (661) 255-1121.

THEY NEED TO TAKE OUT THAT DAMN TREE ALREADY !!!!!!! TOO MANY KIDS HIT THAT SAME TREE, TAKE IT OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about putting responsibility where it belongs? The tree didn’t jump in front of the car. Many thousands of people have driven that road without crashing into the tree. People need to slow down, drive smart and pay attention.
She was a nice person and friendly as well. She will be nissed.
Oak trees can take ten years just to be able to provide shade. Some species of oak trees only grow 12-14″ a year. Why would you want to take it out? That tree has been there forever and other then growing bigger I’m pretty sure it has never moved. Not to mention the benefit of the tree to the environment; trees remove carbon dioxide and other toxins, they create oxygen, the acorns oak trees produce provides nourishment for thousands of animals, birds and insects and it takes a mature oak to produce fruit and finally that tree is at least 75 years old, it’s majestic beautiful and part of cc history. Placing blame on the tree takes away from what the real lesson should be which is slow down, don’t street race and wear your seat belt always. My condolences and prayers to this young ladies family and friends.
