The city of Santa Clarita has put out the call for volunteers for upcoming events and ongoing programs.
Here’s a list of opportunities:
Summer Reading Program Finale
Help with event set-up, crafts and activities and clean-up. (Age 14-17)
Saturday, July 27 @ Newhall Library
Swim League Finals
Help as lane timers. (Age 12+)
Saturday, August 3 @ Santa Clarita Aquatics Center
LA84 Swim Festival
Help with swimmer check-in or as lane timers. (Age 12+)
Saturday, August 17 @ Santa Clarita Aquatics Center
River Rally
Help clean a portion of the Santa Clara River or with event logistics. (Age: 5+)
Saturday, September 21 @ Newhall Community Center
CERT Simulation Drill
Act as “injured survivors” at a disaster simulation drill. (Age: 7+)
Saturday, September 21 @ Location TBD
Santa Clarita Marathon
Man water stations or serve as Course Monitors. (Age: 3+)
Saturday, November 2, and Sunday, November 3 @ Various Locations
Ongoing Opportunities
Computer Basics Volunteer Instructor
Help teach library patrons basic computer functions and Internet tasks. (Age: 18+)
Summer Reading Program Finale
Assist library staff with operating and maintaining the Makerspace area. (Age: 18+)
Canyon Country Community Center
Help children ages 3-12 with homework, after-school programs, events, etc. (Age 14+)
Newhall Community Center
Work with children ages 5-12. Help with homework, games, activities, etc. (Age 14+)
Park Sierra Homework Help
Assist K-12 youth with homework, reading, and sports programs. (Age 14+)
Open Space and Trails Beautification Projects
Build, maintain and clean up trails at various Open Space properties. (Age 12+)
