[KHTS] – Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley’s Eighth Annual The Wine Affair “Sip, Stroll and Savor the Sounds” was held Sunday afternoon on Town Center Drive in Valencia.

The Wine Affair was a sold-out event and attracted more than 500 guests who strolled between venues on Town Center Drive as they sampled wine and food tastings and listened to music. Many guests commented on the perfect weather the day offered for wine tasting.

Entourage Hair Studio and Ro,Ma Jewelers served as the VIP venues for The Wine Affair sponsors and guests who paid $100 per ticket for the VIP experience.

Other venues included Apollo’s Barber Shop, Vines Restaurant (at the Hyatt Regency Valencia), Salt Creek Grille, Fifty-Six Clothing, Angl, The Ivy Day Spa, Valencia Wine Co., Color Me Mine, Blo-Out Lounge, The Open Book and Pottery Barn.

General admission tickets were priced at $55 each.

Pam Ingram, co-chairwoman of The Wine Affair, said the event couldn’t have happened without the support of food and wine purveyors who donate their products and “to an amazing committee who put this event together.”

“This is the largest event we’ve ever had,” she said. “We have more sponsors, more venues, more food and wine. We’re expecting to have a great day.”

Ingram said the event benefited the service club’s efforts to help “women and girls in need.”

“This event supports our programs helping women in crisis, celebrating women and women’s health issues,” she said.

Fourth year Title Sponsor Myles McNamara, of Comfort Keepers In-Home Care, said Soroptimist International of Greater SCV “is an organization of wonderful women.”

McNamara said he always looks forward to sponsoring The Wine Affair.

“I’m the proud papa of two daughters. Soroptimist International’s mission statement is to empower and educate young women, and I’m all about that,” he said.

Lisa Odom, co-chairwoman of The Wine Affair, said she has enjoyed working on the event.

“This has been super fun, I’ve loved every moment of it,” she said. “This is a great organization for women. They support so many other nonprofits, it’s been a great experience.”

Among the wine and food vendors were: Salt Creek Grille, JJ’s Bar and Grille, Robinson Ranch Golf Club, Fireman’s Brew, Mystic Hills Vineyard, Bellissimo Cellars, Bonefish Grill, California Fish Grill, Culinary Wonders, CP Iconic Wines, Guarachi Wine Partners, J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines, Kokolita, Magnavino Cellars, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Parashars’ Indian Kitchen, Persia Restaurant, Plan B Wine Cellars, Pulchella Winery, Sister House Thai Fusion, Solita, Smokin’ Bar-B-Quties, Truffles ‘n Toffee, Valencia Wine Co., Vines Restaurant, Wilson Creek Vineyard and Winery, Vina Sympatica, Wolf Creek Brewing Co. and Restaurant.

The Wine Affair attendees Ray and Janey Tippet said they always enjoy attending The Wine Affair.

“How exciting is this? Every year it gets bigger and bigger,” said Ray Tippet. “Soroptimists are one of a kind; they are so giving to this community.”

Entertainment was provided by G3, Blue Sky, The Cellar Ratz, Drop Zone Lite, Hagen Jazz, Kelly’s Lot, Pat Nason and The Will Call Band.

Longtime supporters of The Wine Affair, Sheryl and John Geraci worked the “Wine Pull” booth where guests could pay $25 for a “mystery bottle” of red or white wine.

“All the bottles are worth at least $30 and some are worth up to $100,” said Sheryl Geraci. “The bottles wrapped in pink are red wines and those in silver are white wines. There are going to be some lucky people.”

John Geraci, a Wine Affair sponsor since the first event, said “the Soroptimists are a great group of women.”

“They don’t just help one nonprofit, they help many nonprofits,” he said. “It’s an awesome cause.”

VIP guests were able to enter a drawing for a choice of raffle baskets which included baskets offering wine and dining certificates, SCV event tickets, health and wellness memberships and golf, beauty and luxury baskets.

Sponsors of The Wine Affair included Thrivent Financial, Paul A. Hughes Family Foundation, RedFox Hot Sauce, Valencia Acura, KHTS, Magazine of Santa Clarita, JDavid’s, Unruh Spine Center, Pam Ingram, Mission Valley Bank, Aida and Bruce Weinstein, R. Johnston Interiors, Old Republic Title Company, ReMax of Valencia, Stern, Kory, Sreden and Morgan, Skyline Home Loans, Nola Aronson’s Advance Audiology, Global Protective Services and McDowell Odom LLP.

The 76.6-mile-long Antelope Valley Line has the third-highest ridership in Metrolink’s system with an estimated average of 9,000 passengers daily. However, the uneven terrain and single-tracking along the line in some areas forces trains to travel at a slower speed which results in an estimated travel time of approximately one hour between Santa Clarita and Union Station.
