Castaic Union School District and Castaic Middle School are proud to announce the upcoming Winter Concert Series with performances on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:00 p.m.

The Castaic Middle School Beginning and Advanced Band feature a total of 78 musicians, performing on a variety of instruments. Instrumentation includes oboe, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, bassoon, euphonium, tuba, electric bass, string bass, and a wide variety of percussion instruments. Under the direction of Mr. Daniel Chandler, the students will be performing a vast array of music literature representing the sounds of the season.

Selections will include The Twelve Days of Christmas by Jack Bullock, A Christmas Serenade by Warren Barker, and Swing Those Bells by Ralph Ford, to name a few. Between the performances of the beginning and the advanced ensembles, there will be a 15-minute intermission during which time refreshments will be sold to help support the students in their musical growth. In addition, a $5.00 donation is requested at the door.

The Guitar/Choir Program showcases two guitar ensembles of 45 students total as well as a 24 voice choir. The two guitar ensembles will be performing 3 selections apiece, featuring arrangements including “O Come, O Come Immanuel” by John Neale, “Away in a Manger” by James Murray, and “Ode to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven. The Choir will be performing numerous choral compositions, including “The Twelve Days After Christmas” by Frederick Silver, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Steve Zegree, and “Starry Night of Winter” by Laura Farnell.
