[KHTS] – The 35th Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Pageant, “The Magic of the Crown,” enthroned new regional queens and princesses Saturday night at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the campus of College of the Canyons.

A preliminary pageant held Friday evening narrowed the field of 37 contestants competing in seven age categories.

The contestants competed in poise, physical fitness, evening gown, ball gown and personal interview. Contestants are also required to perform community service activities to compete in the pageant.

The Miss SCV queens and princesses make appearances in the Newhall Fourth of July Parade, at nonprofit fundraisers and Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce grand openings.

The 2013 royal court, Miss Santa Clarita Valley Kelsie Leach, Mrs. Santa Clarita Valley Rachael Ward, Ms. Santa Clarita Valley Kisha Eltagonde, Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley Hannah Hobelman, Jr. Miss Santa Clarita Valley Lyauna Augmon, Little Miss Santa Clarita Valley Kayla Prieto and Mini Miss Santa Clarita Valley Ella Limones, took their final royal walk and passed on their crowns during Saturday’s pageant activities.
