The SCV Education Foundation honored Santa Clarita Valley teachers at the 31st annual Teacher Tribute at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at COC on Tuesday.
Every year, the foundation gathers the best school teachers together to be honored for their innovative work in engaging students to find success.
“I salute all ofyour for showing up to school every day, because I know it is not an easy task,” said Jeanine Michel, a Sulphur Springs Community School teacher.“This year, the theme is super heroes, because that’s truly what you all are.”
Instructors from the Newhall, Saugus Union, Castaic Union, Sulphur Springs and the William S. Hart Union school districts were all part of the event.
“This award means a lot,” said Carl Evans, a Cedar Creek Elementary teacher. “It’s great to see all the other staff members in our district working together and being acknowledged for all of the hard work we do every day.”
In addition to honoring teachers, five students were given $10,000 in scholarships from the SCV Education Foundation.
“We are lucky we work in a profession where we see progress every day and this is just the icing on the cake,” said Evans.
