With the highly anticipated Castaic High School project taking shape and excitement building in anticipation of the school’s fall 2019 opening, project leaders are stepping up community engagement efforts to not only answer the public’s questions about the project and its progress, but also to give residents a preview of what the state-of-the-art campus will offer the community.

“It’s been a long time coming, but this is truly an exciting time for Castaic High School and the community,” said Project Manager Randy Wrage of Romero Canyon LLC. “For a lot of people, a project like this starts to feel more ‘real’ when you can see actual structures being built on the property. It’s now moved from ‘concept’ to something tangible.”

With that in mind, the Castaic High School Project website (www.castaichighproject.com) has launched a series of articles and commentaries that provide insight into the project from its past through current updates and looking ahead at what the school will offer when it opens.

These outreach efforts will work hand in hand with community events geared toward connecting the community to the new school in advance of its opening.

The $126.2 million project, under construction at the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Canyon Hill Road (both new roads constructed as part of this project), is scheduled to open to ninth grade students in August 2019 and add a new freshman class each successive year, until it’s fully populated with all four high school grades. The 58-acre campus is being built on a 200-acre site.

The Castaic High School Project’s series of articles and commentaries will explore the facilities and offerings at the new school, including the planned partnership with College of the Canyons to create an on-campus academy, similar to COC’s Academy of the Canyons, where students could simultaneously attend high school and earn college credit.

“There’s so much going into this project and we’re very grateful for the leadership of the William S. Hart Union High School District in making this new school a true gem for the community,” Wrage said.

With that in mind, the Castaic High School Project’s first commentary looks back at the role the Hart District’s leadership has played in bringing the project from concept to reality.
