[KHTS] – A man and a woman were killed and an infant sustained major injuries in a fatal crash Tuesday at 7:54 p.m in Acton, officials said.
A 2014 Ford Focus traveling northbound on Highway 14, north of Santiago Road, left the road and struck a guardrail off the left side of the road and then struck a large metal pole next to the rail, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The right front passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Palmdale who was not identified pending next-of-kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials who responded to the crash.
A Coroner’s Office spokesman confirmed the family had not yet been notified.
The driver of the Ford, a 31-year-old man from Palmdale, was transported to Palmdale Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The unidentified infant was flown to USC Medical Center, where his condition is currently unknown.
California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the crash.
