Bringing a beloved tradition to a site with beautiful scenery and historical significance, Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich and the Department of Parks and Recreation invite the public to join the Antonovich Trail Dusters Ride on Sunday, May 31.
Led by Mayor Antonovich, the supervised ride allows participants to enjoy a relaxing day on horseback while showcasing L.A. County’s incomparable natural beauty. Estimated to last approximately 3 hours (including rest stops and refreshment breaks), it will travel through a combination of rolling hills and level areas, concluding with a traditional barbecue and live country-western music by Steve Woods.
Non-riders are welcome, and riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No stallions or dogs are allowed.
Parking gates open at 5 a.m., and the event kicks off with a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast at the trail ride staging area, which is located at Tejon Ranch at Fish Creek Corrals (300th Street West and Gaskell Road; the gate is located about 4.7 miles north on 300th Street West from Highway 138).
The ride will begin promptly at 9 a.m.
Pre-registration is required, and must be completed by Friday, May 29. Ticket prices are $30 per person (horse rental not included). For reservations, ticket and event information, call Vincent Pedroza at (909) 599-8411 or make an online reservation at http://reservations.lacounty.gov/reservations/product.asp.
Horse rental reservations can be secured by contacting Lee Graham at Graham Brothers, (760) 245-7695 or by email at info@grahambroslivestock.com.
The Antonovich Trail Dusters Ride began in 1992, and its popularity led to it being scheduled as a twice-yearly event.
Tejon Ranch’s legacy dates back to 1843 when it was established as a Mexican land grant. At 270,000 acres, it is the largest working ranch in California.
The ride is sponsored by Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich and the Department of Parks and Recreation in conjunction with Tejon Ranch; Backcountry Horsemen of CA Antelope Valley Unit; ETI Corral 9; ETI Corral 21; ETI Corral 83; ETI Corral 138; North County Mounted Assistance Unit and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau Mounted Unit.
