2020 Mom is planning to host its second annual Farm to Table charity event in an effort to spotlight its programs promoting the critical need for the proper screening, diagnosis and treatment of maternal mental health disorders.

The event will be held the evening of May 21 at the Valencia Country Club.

“We are thrilled to again be hosting the Farm to Table charity event, a dinner this year,” said Joy Burkhard, the founder and executive director of 2020 Mom. “Guests become a part of this close-knit community that understands and supports thriving motherhood,” she said.

Last year one hundred and twenty (120) guests joined the organization on the lawn at Valencia Country Club under hanging lanterns enjoying cocktails, the botitque silent auction, and an incredible meal. Guests learned about 2020 Mom, heard from mother who suffered from postpartum depression, and from speakers, John and Molly Chester of Apricot Lane Farms about life on the farm and about becoming parents themselves.

This year the event will include these same things and farm-fresh organic Mexican cuisine and will feature corn and limes. Guests will be greeted with margaritas and latin music, and enjoy their meal on corn and lime decorated spralling picnic tables placed under globe lights and draped mexcian party flags.

The event is again being sponsored by Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Princess Cruises, Union Bank and Whole Foods.

“This is an intimate event and a cause that Princess is honored to be a part of,” said Shelley Wise Director of Brand and Marketing at Princess Cruises who is also a board member of 2020 Mom. “We value suppporting the local community and know the importance of supporting mothers so their families can thrive,” she said. On to of its cash sponsorship, Princess has donated a $1000 cruise gift card, which be be used for any cruise(s) including two three-four day getaway cruises. Auction tickets are for sale on the event website.

Partners include Barnes and Noble, Galpin Subaru, Schlick Photography, Good Life Organics, Solita and Pinot’s Palot. The VIP reception is being hosted by Solita and Pinot’s Palot will host the Tree of Life painting where each guest who makes a contribution to 2020 Mom will have the opportunity to paint a leaf onto an orange tree painting which will hang in the labor and delivery unit at Henry Mayo. So parents attending don’t have to worry about securing their own babysitters, children are also being offered their own night out at Hugo’s Gym Fitness.

Because of a link between a diaper-need and postpartum depression, 2020 Mom is hosting several diaper drives throughout SCV during the first two weeks of May. Diapers will be distributed at the Farm to Table Dinner to Single Mother’s Outreach and the L.A. Baby Buggy both who serve mothers in need.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics postpartum depression is the most common, yet most under-diagnosed, obstetrical complication in the country. Research suggests up to 20% of women will be effected by a Maternal mental health disorder, untreated disorders impact family stability, and the development of infants and children.  Maternal mental health disorders include depression, anxiety incluing obsessive compulsive disorder and psychosis, which occur during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum.
