Santa Clarita’s Allyson Felix closed out her London Olympics experience with another gold-medal performance Saturday as she helped Team USA win the women’s 4×400-meter relay for the fifth consecutive time.

Felix, 26, of Canyon Country, ran the second leg of the race, widening the gap between the United States and Russia. By the time American Sanya Richards-Ross crossed the finish line at 3:16:87, Russia was nowhere in sight.

It was the third best U.S. time on record and just 1.7 seconds shy of the world record set by the Soviet Union at the 1988 Olympic Games.

“I was pumped up. I went off adrenalin tonight,” Felix told NBC after the race.

“God has been good to me,” said the L.A. Baptist High School and USC grad. “I couldn’t do anything without him.”

It was the third medal – all gold – for Felix in London, and they came in three different distances.

After finishing out of the running in the 100m dash, as expected, she bounced back Wednesday to win her first individual Olympic gold medal in the 200m sprint – historically her best event, and one in which she was heavily favored.

After that performance she was added Friday to the 4×100 relay team – a race she wasn’t originally expected to run – and helped lead the team to gold in world-record time.

So in sum, she won in 100 meters (one leg of the record-setting 4x100m relay), she won in 200 meters, and on Saturday, she won in her 400-meter leg of the 4x400m relay.

It also means she keeps her crown in the 4x400m relay. She was on the U.S. team that won the 4x400m relay in world competition last year in Daegu, South Korea.

If our calculations are correct, Felix has won more world gold medals in track and field (11) than any other woman.
