Stephen Foster, an award-winning actor/writer/comedian and teacher, is offering a free “Awakening the Actor Within” workshop on Saturday, Nov. 15, 1-2:30 p.m. in the community room of the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Branch.

“Just a stone’s throw from Hollywood, Old Town Newhall has its own share of rising stars—and now, it’s your turn to shine,” said Foster. “I am excited to be offering a one-day inspiring ‘Awakening the Actor Within’ workshop to help people discover their acting power.”

The acting workshop class is designed for adults and seniors.

Foster said the afternoon will be packed with “real talk, live coaching and creative fire.”

Drawing from his book “Awakening the Actor Within,” Foster will lead an interactive workshop designed to help aspiring performers break through blocks, build confidence and tap into their artistic truth. With stories from stage to screen and plenty of behind-the-scenes stories, this is a must-attend event for any local dreamer ready to take the spotlight.

The class is based on his “Awakening The Actor Within” 12-week workbook which aims to help actors recover and discover their highest goals and ambitions. It focuses on the subject of helping actors heal from acting “blocks” and getting the courage to act again after being discouraged or disappointed.

The workbook aims to free an actor’s creativity and build a healthy “acting” foundation with a simple, friendly, approach called “Acting Practice.”

The user-friendly workbook teaches actors to form healthy acting habits and rebuild confidence as it guides actors through a series of daily and weekly exercises that empower them with practical tools to overcome their “blocks” (fear, anger, self-loathing, jealousy, self-sabotage, and money).
