Community: Newhall, Zone 6

During the past week, Newhall (Zone 6) had seven reported part-one crimes. One commercial burglary, one residential burglary, two grand thefts, one petty theft, one assault, and one robbery were reported in Newhall during the past week.

A grand theft was reported from the 23700 block of Valle Del Oro in Newhall. The victim reported that after she dropped off her rent money in the payment drop box at her apartment complex, unknown suspect(s) stole the payment from inside the drop box. Crimes such as these types have been reported in the past in the Newhall area. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station detectives are currently partnering with outside law enforcement agencies to solve these cases. It is recommended that if you live in an apartment complex you hand deliver your monthly rent to the leasing office (ref -02078 / 02085).

A robbery was reported on 02/16/13 at approximately 2:40am from the area of Newhall Avenue and Valle Del Oro. Two female victims (18 and 19 years old) reported that three male Hispanics pulled alongside of them and began to speak to them. The three suspects then demanded money after exiting their vehicle and surrounding the victims. No property or money was obtained during this incident. Both victims were very vague with their account of this incident when speaking to deputies. This incident is under investigation (ref -02210).

On Thursday, 02/14/13 at approximately 6:00pm deputies contacted a 57 year old male Hispanic in the area of Pine Street and 6th Street in Newhall during a traffic stop. Deputies discovered the male Hispanic was a known gang associate and was in possession of property that they reasonably believed to be stolen. A Tom-Tom GPS, Apple I-pod, and LG cell phone was booked into evidence. The male Hispanic suspect was subsequently arrested for reasonable cause, receiving stolen property (ref -02143).

Numerous other arrests were made in the Newhall area throughout the week.
