1994, 4:31 a.m. - Magnitude 6.7 Northridge earthquake rocks Santa Clarita Valley [video]
collapsed freeway bridge

HuntTwo adult men were shot and killed in a Valencia home Sunday night, officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the 28700 block of Iron Village Drive in the West Hills gated community at approximately 8:11 p.m. Sunday, said Deputy Barraza with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Preliminary information indicates that Gary Hunt, 53, was shot multiple times and Joshua Hunt, 23, sustained a single gun shot wound to the head, said Lt. Steve Jauch with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Both were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and pronounced dead.

One handgun has been recovered from the scene and several shell casings were found inside the home, Jauch said.

“Right now, until we talk to the only witness that we are aware that was here, which is the wife and mother,” Jauch said. “We just don’t have any information as to what happened and who the primary aggressor was and what brought this about.”

Neighbors said four people lived in the Valencia home where the shooting occurred, and screams and gunshots were heard.

“My whole backyard was echoing and we could hear screaming,” said Hayden Acosta.

L.A. County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are on scene.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

      Demons being a junkie.

      • Bruce says:

Love how nowhere in the article does it say anything about drugs or anything or even murder suicide but all these A-holes feel the need to say “demons you mean drugs” and “murder/suicide” like they know what happened! Why cant you all just show respect and give condolances or just keep your mouth shut and think to your self what you want instead of posting it where the families will possibly see it read it and be heart broken by it you heartless dumb mother F#%*

    • No one plans to grow up and be addicted.

    • Gee Hawd that was a very spiteful comment you made. No one plans on becoming addicted to the substances they take. Addiction is a road no one thought they would go down and unfortunately it’s the hardest illness to overcome. There’s far more to it than just not taking the substance anymore.

    • vanessa renee says:

  17. Gee Hawd says:

    Damn junkie kids

  18. I am very sad for the family and their family. Valencia, it can happen everywhere. Not just Newhall and CC. I must say though the masses have been quiet about this of late. People may finally be gaining some realistic perspective now. Violence and crime can and does happen everywhere.

  19. What does location have to do with any of this. Violence and tragedy occur in every corner of our world. How incredibly horrible for the wife, mother, family, friends, etc. So very sad.

  20. And it not the FIRST

  21. Noe Jin Michelle Niño Maciel Casillas

  22. Sounds like an altercation between a dad and son. Though we don’t know what happened, prayers to the mother/wife who had to endure it.

  23. I don’t know what happened but that description sounds like a murder suicide. So sad and prayers to the mother/wife and family

  24. Sandy Shaw Bricker do you know this family? So sad, prayers for this family.

  25. Sandra says:

But people still think owning a gun is a good idea. So sad that the tools to satisfy a horrific impulse were so readily available :(

    • kim c says:

Really, you’re making this about gun control? Are you voting for Hillary? Do you think we should also let in Syrian refugees and coddle terrorists. Get with the real world lady.

  26. Jenette says:

So very sad…some people on hear need to be more understanding and stop acting like “omg not my valencia awesometown where I live” “nothing bad can happy here” thats just stupidity at its finest. RIP to those who are gone. Familys and people alone all have issues sometimes some worse than others. nobody in this entire world is “too good” enough to have them so stop judging and ave some respect and for the ones who agree and understand what I;m saying thank you cause the real problem of “awesometown” are the people who think theyre just too good to have a damn issue in their lives

  27. Jenette says:

    have*

  28. For people saying Valencia isn’t safe and all- this is domestic violence which we have a lot of. It’s not street violence so it’s safer in neighborhood streets and the public

  29. kelly bader says:

I have been living here since1980. To my recollection there have been 8 murdrers. Only 2 of them were not domestic. Valencia is still an incredibly safe place to live for a city its size. Keep it classy Valencia! Drug addiction is usually happens when a troubled person is self medicating. It happens in every type of family. Alcohol is also used to self medicate.
Prayer and love to this broken family.

  30. kim c says:

It’s so sad that so many people on this feed feel the need to make hurtful, disrespectful, disgusting statements. Regardless of why this happened, a family has been destroyed. Do you think this mother will ever get over what she saw? She will never be the same, EVER. People who love and care about this family will be seeing your comments. Did that occur to you? Kelp your judgements to yourself, and just offer condolences, what is wrong with you?

  31. Luis A. says:

Joshua T. Hunt was one of the Kindest Goodhearted persons I’ve come across yet. I only knew him for a short period of time, and I’m a better person for having known him. I wish this never happened. My thoughts and prayers are with his mother and little sister he spoke so highly of you two, and loved you very much. I hope he finds peace on the other side.

  32. SCVsMMoStHated says:

people are not ready for domestic-terrorism. When this city has its own serial killer etc… Incapable
