To many sports fans, springtime brings images of baseball. And we baseball fans in the Santa Clarita Valley are fortunate to have several high-caliber high school teams locally in the Foothill League. Those teams play anywhere from 22 to more than 30 games in a season that stretches from mid-February to early April. Our local teams have already played several non-league games, with more to come. But the Foothill League games will get started in earnest next week.

Golden Valley (4-0, 0-0)

At 4-0, the Golden Valley Grizzlies have started well in the non-league part of the new baseball season. The first Foothill League competition will be against West Ranch on Wednesday, March 11 (away) and Friday, March 13 (home). Both games are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Canyon (3-1, 0-0)

The Canyon Cowboys are also starting the non-league season well. The first Foothill competition will be at home against Hart on Wednesday, March 11 and away vs. Hart on Friday, March 13. Both games are at 3:30 p.m.

Castaic (4-3, 0-0)

The Castaic Coyotes’ first league games are away against Saugus on Wednesday, March 11 and home vs. Saugus on Friday, March 13. Both at 3:30 p.m.

Saugus (4-3, 0-0)

The Saugus Centurions’ first Foothill League games will be at home vs. Castaic on Wednesday, March 11 and away vs. Castaic on Friday, March 13. Both at 3:30 p.m.

Valencia (3-4, 0-0)

The Valencia Vikings won’t have any Foothill League games until Wednesday, March 18 and Friday, March 20, home and away, vs. Hart at 3:30 p.m. each.

Hart (3-4, 0-0)

The Hart Hawks’ first league games will be away vs. Canyon on Wednesday, March 11 and at home vs. Canyon on Friday, March 13. Both are at 3:30 p.m.

West Ranch (1-4, 0-0)

The West Ranch Wildcats first league competition will be at home against Golden Valley on Wednesday, March 11 and away vs. Golden Valley on Friday, March 13, both at 3:30 p.m.
