[KHTS] – Representative Steve Knight, CA-25, hosted a holiday open house at his Santa Clarita District Office on Monday evening for the Santa Clarita community to meet Knight and his staff and to discuss the past legislative year.
“I’ll talk to anyone about what’s going on in Washington D.C., or what’s been going on for the past 11 months,” Knight said. “It’s less about me and more about the office and making sure the community knows where it is.”
Knight’s Santa Clarita district office was opened in July 2015 and is located at 26415 Carl Boyer Drive, Suite 220.
“I want to make sure that people know we’re here and we want to help,” said Knight. “The best thing about this (open house) is that people will know the office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.”
There were over a dozen attendees at the open house, including Assemblyman Scott Wilk and Peter Stamison Sr., who voted for Knight and wanted to meet him in person.
Stamison previously worked for President Bush and Governor Pete Wilson, before moving to Santa Clarita in 2007.
“I just want to make sure people know (this office) is open, it’s pretty much in the center of the Santa Clarita Valley, that’s why it’s off Centre Pointe Parkway,” Knight said. “We picked this for a reason, we didn’t want to be all to one side or to the other. We want to be right in the center so people could get here within 10 or 12 minutes.”
Knight said every year he does an open house at at least one or two of his offices every year.
“This year, we picked Santa Clarita because it’s right in the middle, if people want to come down from the Antelope Valley or come from Simi Valley, it’s half an hour,” said Knight. “That’s why we picked here and we wanted everyone to know this is our open house, come and enjoy.”
Knight, R- Antelope Valley, represents California’s 25th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes the communities throughout the Antelope, Santa Clarita and Simi Valleys.
