[KHTS] – Santa Clarita residents and city officials turned out Thursday for the grand opening of U.S. Rep. Steve Knight’s new SCV office in the Centre Pointe Business Park.

The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Knight said. People can always call and make an appointment if the congressman is in Washington D.C., but if they want to come in and meet with Acosta, talk about what’s happening or what is coming up, they can do that.

“We’re very proud of you as our congressman, thank you for having your office within the city. I think that’s really special and I appreciate that,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.

McLean presented Knight with a “welcoming certificate” at the grand opening.

“The city of Santa Clarita is keeping us very busy. We have some major projects in Santa Clarita that we’ve been working on and I think we’re going to get some resolve either this year or early next year with some of the issues that have been a thorn out here, and we want to fix that,” said Knight. “That’s our job to make things better. Our office is open here, manned by Dante Acosta and Wyant Woodson.”

“We have an awful lot of young, bright and energetic folks that are going to be helping out in here,” said Knight, referring to the new interns. “It’s a pleasure for me to come into this office and deal with these folks and know that they are dealing with the community with honor and with integrity.”

Steve Knight’s offices are located in the Antelope, Simi and now, Santa Clarita Valleys.

“This office helps with people knowing where it is. We can give an address but we can also say that we’re near big landmarks such as Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Aquatic Center, and people will say ‘oh I know where that is,’” said Knight.
