Real Life Church located in Santa Clarita is holding their second Backpack Drive to serve the community in a practical way. New backpacks and school supplies for children grades K-6 are being accepted through August 1.
“Some stories that we heard last year were from several single mothers that have three, four or even five children that were wondering how they were going to get school supplies for the new school year” said Mario Ortiz, the Vida Real Pastor at Real Life Church.
“We feel it is our calling to bless the neighborhood and help out in any practical way that we can.”
Last year, Real Life Church was able to give away 1,000 backpacks. This time around they have new ambitions. “Our goal this year is to give out 2,000 backpacks and we have added a new opportunity for children to receive a free haircut” Ortiz said.
Families in need can show up on August 3rd to Real Life Church’s campus at 2378 Newhall Avenue in Newhall between 10 am to 2 pm.
“The kids will have an opportunity to go through a room where they will be able to shop, in a sense, for their school supplies and also receive a free haircut” said Ortiz.
Real Life Church is asking for donations of new backpacks and school supplies for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Donations can be dropped off at Real Life Church in Valencia on Newhall Ranch Road or the Newhall Campus, inside Savia, on Newhall Avenue.
