1873 - Vasquez gang raids Kingston in (now) Kings County; ties up townspeople, makes off with $2,500 in cash and jewels [story]
Kingston

body-in-trunk[KHTS] – Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 28-year-old Hispanic man who was found Sunday dead in the trunk of a Honda, officials said.

Officials with the Coroner’s Office would not release any additional details pending the notification of the victim’s next of kin.

No arrests have been made, and detectives have not released any information about any possible suspects.

The suspected murder is part of the seventh suspicious death investigation in the Santa Clarita Valley area since January.
The body was found by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies, after a deputy conducting a routine patrol check noticed a blue Honda Accord parked illegally on Golden Valley Road, near Golden Valley High School.

“We think we have the victim identified, but we have to wait for the coroner,” said Lt. Steve Jauch of the Homicide Bureau, adding investigators were working the crime scene until well into the night, after their Sunday morning discovery.

The deputy noticed the car around 9:30 a.m., and the deputy was inspecting the car before it was slated to be towed, when the body was discovered in the trunk.

The immediate cause of death “was not obvious,” according to Jauch, who said he could not release more information at this time, pending a medical examiner’s investigation.

Officials with the Coroner’s Office plan to conduct their autopsy on the victim this afternoon.

Ellorah Warner was a 19-day-old girl who detectives suspect was murdered by her father. Jessica Greenback is currently in court to determine her mental competency after she was accused of fatally shooting her brother and wounding her father.

Lisa Marie Gastelum was a Stevenson Ranch woman killed by her husband in a murder suicide shooting outside of a FedEx.

Detectives suspect Ledarion Allen was shot to death by Michael McGlothan, who is still a suspect sought by deputies. The alleged motive has not been released by detectives.

Deputies arrested Robert Arvizu for the death of Courtney Arvizu, who was found dead in her place from a blunt force trauma.
Kahlil Banks is suspected to have died from a heroin overdose, but Tommy Loaiza has been arrested for a murder charge in connection with his death.

Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

To remain anonymous, call “Crime Stoppers” by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or text the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.

This happens in SCV and has for years. It’s just being publicized more than it used to be. And the larger they make this city the higher the crime rate will go.
