daalogo[DAA] – Dr. Lee Rogers, Democratic candidate for Congress in the 25th Congressional District, Constitutional lawyer, lecturer, author and past president of the ACLU of Southern California, Stephen F. Rohde, and Brian Charles, reporter for the Los Angeles Newsgroup, and former reporter for The Signal will be the featured speakers at the August 22, 2013 meeting of the Democratic Alliance for Action at Vincenzo’s Pizza in Newhall 6:30 p.m. to eat, 7 p.m. for meeting. Vincenzo’s is located at 24504 Lyons Avenue, Newhall, CA 91321.

Steven Rohde has written numerous articles and book reviews on civil liberties and constitutional history, including America’s Words of Freedom, which explores the origin, meaning and history of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He has won several important First Amendmnt victories, most recently striking down California’s ‘Son of Sam’ law in Keenan v Superior Court. In 2004, he received the First Amendment Award from the ACLU Foundation of Southern California.

The speakers will be addressing the history of civil liberties violations in this country and the current state of affairs including drones, torture, the NSA, Islamophobia, Whistleblowers, etc. These presentations will be followed by a question and answer session from the audience. However, these don’t seem to be confusing the results. In both girls and boys leagues, the leaders’ heals are being nipped, and the next couple weeks will reveal all that we may only speculate on now.
