Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, presented a $5,000 Education Grant from the Barona Band of Mission Indians to Mint Canyon Community School on Friday to assist in the purchase of 67 MobyMax tablets to aid students learning math and language arts.
“I thank the Barona Band of Mission Indians for their generosity and commitment to the future of our state’s children,” Wilk said. “This grant will help ensure Mint Canyon students have access to valuable tools in the classroom that are critical to a good education.”
“We are pleased to be awarded this Grant and appreciate the time and efforts of Mrs. Kathy Harris, her team in our Instructional Services Department, and the important endorsement of Assemblyman Scott Wilk,” said Principal Roni Andrus. “We thank the Barona Band of Mission Indians and their Education Grant Program for their generous gift.”
As part of the Barona Education Grant Program, each year the Barona Band of Mission Indians generously awards an education grant to one school in each legislative district in California. In order to be considered, schools must apply and have an official endorsement from a State Legislator.
The 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
