You and all the conservatives of the 60’s and 70’s said the same thing about the Vietnam protesters – and we ended the war.
There is place in this country for all forms of civil disobedience. You should know better what role civil disobedience has played in the history of this country!
Betty,
This time you are surely right about destruction of public and private property. There is no excuse for acting out like this, save for action against real government tyranny. This election was not tyranny. It was simply unfortunate, and now we (and you, too) will have to pay the price for short sighted thinking by ill-informed voters.
Yes, it was a trough choice election. No gems here, on either side.
So, Betty, now the ball is firmly in your court. What will you do with it? The tale this time, will surely be in the tape. Let’s see where we are in 2 – 4 years.
Right now, 3.5% economic growth, 4.8% unemployment, relative peace, low interest rates, rising housing values, stock market at all time high. 20 million more insured than before 2008. Virtually no “terrorism” in the U.S. – certainly far less than the 3,200 lost in NY during the Bush years. Also, no mismanaged “Katrinas.”
So, let’s check back in 2 – 4 years. For the sake of the nation I hope that the Republican majority governs as adults, caring for the people of the United States. We see that here locally, but have failed to see it nationally. I hope it all works out – for you and me and everyone. But I harbor serious doubts.

3 words is whats responsible for this, B.L.M.
Betty, I hope you will keep going. These people know absolutely nothing about anything, politics included, no matter how you/we explain to them the unAmerican problems caused by these leftists. They need to take the poles out of their eyes so that they can see the truth and how our country now will be the better for the correction the people just made.
This opinion piece is so out of touch, it almost reads as satire.
This isn’t about insulting each other – that’s so silly. I have led a responsible life, succeeding in my work, involved in more than one non-profit and volunteering so much personal time for the good of the community.
