[KHTS] – Some Santa Clarita residents will be able to vote in the fast approaching elections for the William S. Hart Union High School District and the Newhall County Water District this Tuesday.

Two seats are up for election for Newhall County Water District, or NCWD, as well as the Hart School District in Trustee Areas 1 and 4.

Polls will be opening at 7 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, however not all Santa Clarita residents will be able to vote.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk office has provided a polling place locator on their website to help residents find where to vote.

This is the first year that the Hart School District will be holding separate elections in geographical voting areas.

Incumbent Gloria Mercado-Fortine is being challenged by Linda Storli, a realtor and retired Canyon High School teacher, for Trustee Area 1.

Incumbent Steve Sturgeon is being challenged by 19-year-old and recent Canyon High School graduate, Andrew Taban for Trustee Area 4.

Trustee Area 1 includes parts of northern Valencia, Castaic and Val Verde and Trustee Area 4 is mainly comprised of Canyon Country.

Only residents who live in Trustee Areas 1 or 4 will be able to vote in the upcoming Hart School District election.

Robert P. Hall, Bob Jensen and Joe Messina aren’t up for election until 2017.

In the NCWD race, incumbents Lynne Plambeck and Daniel Mortensen are seeking reelection and will be facing a challenge from Jeff Ford and AV Equipment Rental owner Don Cruikshank.

Only those who live in the NCWD’s service areas — which includes Newhall, Castaic and portions of Saugus and Canyon Country — will be able to vote in the election.

Neither incumbent in the Castaic Union School District filed for reelection, according to the Registrar-Recorder. Newcomers Stacy Dobbs and Michael Owen Lambarth signed up to serve and will automatically take the seats in November.

The Newhall School District is also divided into voting-area districts. Incumbents Michael Shapiro and Sue Solomon will be returning to the board, as they were the only people to file in Trustee Areas 4 and 5, respectively.

In the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District, incumbents Michael Fox and Larry Layton will be keeping their seats.
