The big, empty space near the Patios at the Westfield Valencia Town Center might soon have a new tenant.
While there are already three Walmart locations in the Santa Clarita Valley – or four, counting Sam’s Club separately – Westfield is proposing to place a Walmart Neighborhood Market in the vacant, 30,399-square-foot space near the Sears side of the Patios. Traditionally, Neighborhood Markets are about a quarter the size of Walmart’s warehouse Super Centers.
Westfield is requesting approval of a Development Review for proposed site changes to accommodate the market, including a redesign of the vehicular entry along the Mall entry at Valencia Boulevard, a redesign of the parking lot south of the Patios, a redesign of the parking lot south of Sears, new shopping cart return areas, a new elevated loading dock and architectural changes to the building façade.
The city of Santa Clarita Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the matter at its regular meeting at 6 p.m. October 16 in council chambers at City Hall.
Written correspondence received by October 5 will be included in the written materials received by the Planning Commission prior to the public hearing.
For further information on the proposal, contact the City of Santa Clarita Permit Center in Suite 140 at City Hall. The Project Planner for this is Jessica M. Frank, Associate Planner.
