[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are seeking a suspect in connection with fraud and forgery charges in the case of a Santa Clarita man who had a debit card, checks and other financial information taken from his mailbox.

bankSuspect

The theft was reported in February, and Sheriff’s Station officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the reported crimes.

The suspect reportedly forged and deposited checks into his bank account using an ATM and the victim’s stolen debit card.

Once the checks were deposited, the suspect would then reportedly withdraw cash via an ATM prior to the forged checks being returned as insufficient funds.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives have been following leads and are now releasing surveillance photos from an ATM machine in hopes of identifying the man who allegedly deposited the forged checks and withdrew funds.

The suspect made fraudulent transactions in both Santa Clarita and Sylmar.

If you recognize the male in these photos or have any further information that can assist detectives in this investigation, please contact Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Harrold at 661-255-1121 or at EBHarrol@lasd.org.

If you would like to remain anonymous, please call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Deputies always encourage residents to immediately report criminal or suspicious activity in

their neighborhoods, according to a statement from Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“By working together, we can send a ‘not in Santa Clarita’ message to criminals,” he said in a Nixle report.
