[KHTS] – Advanced Audiology will begin offering a new product next month that is more than just a hearing aid.

During an open house on May 6, 7 and 8, Nola Aronson and her staff at Advanced Audiology will introduce the Halo hearing aid, which connects directly to an iPod, iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth for personalized hearing settings in a variety of locations.

“If you’re having trouble understanding speech in restaurants, in meetings, in church, in any social gatherings,” Aronson said, “then you should come to us for a free hearing screening…”

Advanced Audiology is the first in the Santa Clarita Valley to offer this technology, she said.

Using geotracking technology, the TruLink app determines the user’s location and and adjusts the hearing aid based on settings saved for that location.

The hearing aid doubles as a hands-free device to stream calls, music, FaceTime and other features directly from an iPhone or other Apple device.

The goal is to allow people to continue their normal lifestyle without being impeded by hearing loss, Aronson said.

“Communication is the universal solvent,” she said, “and when we can’t communicate or have trouble understanding, then we look like we’re getting older than we are.”

Many people treat hearing centers like they do the dentist office, Aronson said, which is why Advanced Audiology offers free hearing screenings, because hearing loss can be caused by something as simple as excess wax.

“We get our eyes checked; we get our teeth checked. Why don’t we get our hearing checked?” she said.

The Halo hearing aid and TruLink app are not yet available for Android or Windows devices.
