Entertainment at last year’s Celebrity Waiter dinner.
Guest celebrities are expected to add an extra dimension to this year’s SCV Senior Center Celebrity Waiter dinner, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Theme for this year’s event is Journey Through Television, and celebrities from television, film and music will be mingling with guests.
In addition, local “celebrities” will serve as waiters at the dinner, offering novel “services” to guests in return for scrip “tips.” The waiter who brings in the highest amount of donations in the form of tips and pre-event fundraising earns the Favorite Waiter award.
Table hosts will use their creativity to come up with lavish decorations and zany costumes, and guests are encouraged to come in costume also. Live music for dancing, on-stage entertainment, and a live auction will round out the evening.
“The Celebrity Waiter dinner is always a lot of fun for those who attend,” commented event co-chair Greg Nutter. “This year’s theme should add a lot of color to the dinner and we think guests will enjoy our celebrity guests. We’re bringing back the same band that was so popular for dancing last year, and we think guests will enjoy that, too.”
Table sponsorships range from $1500 to $5000 and include seating for 10, recognition during the event, and various other perks based on sponsorship level. Individual tickets are $100 each. Table reservations or additional information are available on the event website at www.scv-senorcenter.org, by mail at SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Santa Clarita, 91321, or by calling Pamela at (661) 259-9444 x-141.
Proceeds from the Celebrity Waiter Dinner event support such SCV Senior Center programs as home delivered meals, reassurance telephone calls, transportation, educational and support groups, and the handyworker program. “Because of the current economic climate, there are significantly fewer federal and private foundation funds to support senior services,” event co-chair Peggy Rasmussen told prospective sponsors. “Your support will help to ensure that these vital services will continue for the growing number of seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
