Community: Valencia, Zone 5

Zone 5-Valencia reported twenty Part-1 Crimes during the past week. The criminal incidents included robbery, residential burglaries, vehicle burglaries, petty theft and shoplifting from local businesses.

A robbery occurred in front of the Santa Clarita Station on Tuesday evening. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and attempted to flee the parking lot. Sheriff’s Deputies heard the screaming and immediately went in foot pursuit of the suspect. Within minutes, the suspect was apprehended and booked at the station. The victim was not injured during this incident and her purse was returned.

Three residential burglaries occurred over the weekend in various areas of Valencia. Locations were at the 27000 block of Victoria lane, the 26700 block of Bouquet Canyon Road and the 23500 block of Lyons Avenues. The times of occurrences were between 9:00 pm- 8:30 am. Items stolen were tools and electronics. In each case, entries were made via open and unlocked doors. Please remember to lock and secure all doors and windows in your home. Both investigations are being handled by the Santa Clarita-Burglary/Theft Detectives.

Three vehicle burglaries occurred on the 21500 block of Town Center Drive between the hours of 8:00 pm- 6:30 am. Items stolen were women’s purses left on the floorboard of the vehicles. Entry/exit was made by smashing passenger back windows. Again, please do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle.

There were three reported incidents of petty theft of women’s wallets. All three incidents occurred on the same day between the hours of 12:00 pm- 3:30 pm, while shopping at grocery stores. Victim’s reported having their wallet inside their purses, in the shopping carts, while shopping. When they got to the checkout counter their wallets were gone. I urge all women to please be cautious of your surroundings. Keep purses closed and on your person. Do not have wallets visible or easily accessible to suspects. If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There were nineteen arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. Arrests included, receiving stolen property, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, warrants and shoplifting from local businesses.
