The CIF Southern Section has begun releasing the 32-team playoff brackets for the various divisions of boys and girls high school basketball. Unless otherwise noted, all first round boys basketball games will be played Friday at 7 pm.
Boys
Boys Foothill league champion Hart (24-2) has been seeded No. 3 in Division 2-A and will host Beckman of Irvine (13-13), an at-large berth out of the Pacific Coast League.
Second place finisher West Ranch (15-12) will host 10th-seeded Millikan of Long Beach (18-8), which finished third behind Long Beach Poly and Compton in the Moore League.
Valencia (19-8) slipped to third in the Foothill League after losing their final two games, and despite being seeded No. 11 will go on the road to play Golden League champions Quartz Hill (21-6). Both the Vikings and the Wildcats are in Division 1-AA.
Canyon (21-6) enters the post-season with an at-large berth, securing the fifth seed in Division 2-AA. They open on the road against Loara of Anaheim (14-13), a team that tied for second in the Golden West League.
In Division 5-AA, Omega League champion Albert Einstein Academy (15-1) received the 16th seed and as a result will get a bye straight to the second round where they will face No. 1 seed Saddleback Valley Christian of San Juan Capistrano (22-5) on the road on Friday at 7 pm.
Heritage League champion Santa Clarita Christian (17-5) earned the No. 5 seed in Division 5-A and will get a bye straight to the second round where they will play the winner of Tarbut V Torah vs. Redlands Adventist at home on Friday at 7 pm.
Trinity Classical Academy (13-8) earned the No. 1 seed in Division 6 and will play New Covenant Academy of Los Angeles (3-9) at home on Wednesday at 7 pm in the first round.
Girls
Unless otherwise noted, all girls basketball playoff games will be played Saturday at 7 pm.
Canyon and Valencia tied for the Foothill League girls basketball title with identical 9-1 records. But depite the teams playing in different divisions based on school enrollment, the Cowboys will represent the league as the No. 1 team and the Vikings will be labeled as the No. 2.
Thus Canyon (25-4) will host El Toro of Lake Forest (10-14), the third place finisher of the South Coast League, in the Division 1-A first round. The Cowboys are seeded No. 5 in the division.
Valencia (19-8) goes into the Division 1-AA playoffs as the No. 8 seed and will host the Inland Valley League third place team J.W. North of Riverside (17-8).
Division 2-A has a pair of Foothill League teams in the bracket. Third in league Hart (13-13) will host Sultana of Hesperia (12-12), the third place team out of the Mojave River League. Golden Valley (13-11) makes the post-season with an at-large berth and will play Rancho Alamitos of Garden Grove (14-4), champions of the Garden Grove League.
Albert Einstein Academy (4-6) finished tied for second in the Omega League and will host 10th-seeded Silver Valley of Yermo (17-4), the third place finisher in the Desert Mountain League. This first round game in Division 5-AA will be played Thursday at 7 pm.
Trinity Classical Academy (10-9) finished second in the Heritage League and will host Arrowhead Christian of Redlands (10-12) out of the Ambassador League in the first round of Division 5-A on Thursday ay 7 pm.
