More than 100 Hart District students from all schools are expected to converge on the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center to serve the 34th annual Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors.
All SCV area seniors are invited to partake in the free dinner.
Students will have a hand in musical entertainment, decorating, set-up and clean-up as well as giving seniors an interested ear for sharing stories and getting to know one another.
The feast is a true community effort, blending the resources of many local organizations, including the Castaic and SCV Lions Clubs, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Chiquita Canyon, Greg Amsler of Salt Creek Grille, The Oaks Grille at TPC, The Vines Restaurant and Bar, Larry and Peggy Rasmussen, EZ Access Self-Storage, the Plaza at Golden Valley Ranch and the Placerita Canyon Homeowners.
Other donors include Chi-Chi’s Pizza, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Premier Meats. Dr. Lee Roger for Congress, The Real Side with Joe Messina, Advantage Disposal, Joel Green and Charlene Perrone and Home Instead Senior Care, Steve Sturgeon and Confidential Data Destruction.
Pumpkin and apple pies are being baked by culinary arts students at Golden Valley High School and College of the Canyons.
Doors will open at the Senior Center at 10 a.m., with dinner served at 11 m.m. All seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley area are welcome. Reservations should be made by calling 661-9444 or 661-259-7134. The SCV Senior Center is located at 22900 Market Street in Newhall, just around the corner from Veteran’s Historical Plaza.
