[KHTS] – A Shadow Pines woman convicted of setting her neighbor’s home on fire in May was sentenced on Thursday, said officials with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Kristine Cosgrove, 53, was sentenced to 48 days in jail and five years formal probation, said L.A. County District Attorney Spokesman Ricardo Santiago.
Cosgrove plead no contest on Dec. 3 to the charge of arson of an inhabited structure, Santiago said.
She was arrested the morning of May 26, 2015 after a reported standoff with Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies that began the night before, according to witnesses.
The standoff took place on the 14900 block of Daffodil Avenue in Shadow Pines following preliminary reports that a woman had allegedly thrown gasoline on her neighbor’s door and porch and then lit the doormat on fire before returning to her home across the street.
No injuries were reported and the house did not appear to sustain any significant damage, according to Fire Department officials who responded to the home. The fire was extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.
A neighborhood resident noted there have been numerous disturbance complaints against Cosgrove.
The incident was believed to stem from a dispute with neighbors.
