The City of Santa Clarita invites professional artists and those working to strengthen their career in the arts to join artist and author Karen Atkinson for a free “Getting Your Stuff Together” workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Century Room at City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.

The workshop will provide aspiring artists with the business tools they need to advance their career and maintain a thriving professional practice.  The workshop will also provide artists with the skills needed to be successful in the industry, including keeping track of work, writing a convincing artist statement, putting together a strong portfolio, networking, marketing and more.  The idea behind Atkinson’s workshop is the more artists know about getting their professional career on track, the more successful they can be.

“Getting Your Stuff Together” was created by educator, artist and curator Karen Atkinson.  She is the President and Founder of GYST-Ink, a company dedicated to empowering and educating artists so they can develop sustainable and successful careers on their own terms by providing information, technology and solutions.

The “Getting Your Stuff Together” workshop is part of the City’s ongoing “New Heights” professional artist workshop series designed to expand local artists’ skill levels and knowledge in various fields.

For more information about the New Heights series or to RSVP for the workshop on December 12, contact City Arts and Events Supervisor Jeff Barber at (661) 250-3779 or jbarber@santa-clarita.com.
