The California Community Foundation announced Thursday it is awarding $175,000 to the Santa Clarita Valley-based Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers.
The nonprofit Dixon centers, located in Val Verde, Canyon Country and Newhall, provide quality outpatient health care services and programs for uninsured and underinsured SCV residents who are billed on a sliding scale based on their ability to pay.
The California Community Foundation is a philanthropic organization serving Los Angeles County since 1915. It included the Dixon centers on a list of 16 nonprofits that will share a total of $1.6 million in two-year grants. Recipients provide a range of services from health care to parental engagement in public education and immigrant integration in public housing.
Founded in 1980 in Val Verde, the Dixon centers now serve more than 11,000 patients annually.
