[Scott Wilk Campaign] – Republican Assembly candidate Scott Wilk received the endorsement of Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, R-Santa Clarita, in the race to succeed him in the State Assembly at a reception at the home of G. Marshall and Shelley Hann.  Smyth is leaving office due to term limits.

“In my mind, there is no better person to go to Sacramento and represent the 38th Assembly District than Scott Wilk”, said Smyth.  “In an era of term limits, you don’t have time for people to slowly learn the system.”

Wilk has extensive experience in government and business.  He has served as chief of staff to Assembly Members Paula Boland and Tom McClintock, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees of the College of the Canyons.  Wilk owns a public affairs firm that assists business with government rules and regulations.

“Assemblyman Smyth is respected in our community and in Sacramento.  He is someone who has been effective working with legislators on both sides of the aisle – which California needs more of,” said Wilk.  “I’m honored to receive his endorsement and I pledged to continue his efforts to hold the line on taxes and make government more accountable.”

In addition to Smyth, Scott Wilk has been endorsed by Rep. Tom McClintock, Board of Equalization Member George Runner, Senator Sharon Runner, the Young Republican Federation of California and many local elected officials and community leaders.

Scott Wilk is a longtime resident of the Santa Clarita Valley. He is a husband, father, a small business owner and Santa Clarita Community College Trustee.  The Signal Newspaper has honored Scott multiple times as one of the 51 most influential people in Santa Clarita. Scott also serves on the Board of Directors of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Foundation and on the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Committee.

Wilk’s opponents for the 38th Assembly District seat are Patricia McKeon (R), Paul Strickland (R) and Edward Headington (D).
